Moon & Mindset

It is 24-02-2024 and a full moon. I'm not aware of the full moon or the date. Even though 2 and 4 are my favourite numbers. I don't feel so good. I'm lost in the storms of my doubts and worries. They rise like the massive waves of Nazare. I'm drowning in them. They keep me under. They keep me small. I need to calm my mind. I need Space to breath. I go for a walk with my dog Nalu in the woods.

The book "it's not your money" from Tosha Silver showed me we are here to learn, not to stand in the way of our flow/ Nature, but surrender to it. Let Nature nourish us. Not force our way through thoughts like: "I have to, or I need to". But surrender everything that you can't carry anymore. Give it to Nature, send it into the universe. She will take you over and change you from the inside.

But I was not feeling that ! Nooooo. I was angry. I only felt "not good enough". So I asked nature for a sign. I didn't ask.... I screamed; "give me a F*cking sign"!

And she did. I needed to pee. So I went off the road and in to the bushes for some privacy. This was difficult, because Nalu was all happy and skipping. She had very different plans then I did.

But I made my way, and found a spot. I would walk back to the road. We went maybe two meters in those bushes. I did see we took a different way back. I thought it was because Nalu was sniffing everywhere. But I was very surprised to find we came out on a whole different side. I really needed to look for the road where we came from. I was thinking how can this happen? Is this the sign? I'm going into this process just doing my thing, and come out very differently then I planned? Then it downed on me; "if I ask Nature for a sign I'm not surrendering to her. I'm still traying to control what I do, and through that I'm standing in the way of my flow/ Nature". So I gave from that moment till the morning of the 26st to Nature. I gave her the space to take me over and show her magic. I can't say I was rich all of a sudden. But immediately I was calm. There were no storms, clouds or killing waves in my mind anymore. The storms made space in my mind for a skipping Nalu, star moss and the sound of bird songs.

The effects of the moon on our mind.

A full moon is for letting go. New moon is for welcoming in where you want more of in your life. Full moon can make you a little bit on edge, tired and even sad. This full moon stands for sprouting. Letting go of everything that is not yours, not for you and not working for you, so there space to grow for all seeds that you have planted. For all seeds to sprout. But we are scared to let go and surrender. To trust that everything that is truly meant for us will come. Because of this we can be on edge, tired, sad and even angry. That's all okey. It's natural and part of growth. Welcome all the feels. They are your guide to what wants to be seen inside of you. We really are all beautifully broken, that's where the light comes in. In this case moonlight. It softly guides you to what needs healing and nurture. Be gentle with yourself. Letting go takes a lot, and you are doing it. You're making space for all that growth. You are alive. Living is change. Living is learning and growing.

Make space for the moon to help you let go. Make space for Nature to calm your mind.

Ask the moon to open you and take you over, so you can carry her light and share it with each and everyone. Thats what you want right? To be your own light, but also the loving light for others.

Ideas to connect with the full moon:

  • Start the day of the full moon with a moment for yourself. Breath in through your nose, deep in to your belly. Breath out through your mouth, while making a straw with your lips. Take long deep breaths. Place your left hand on your heart (left stands for yin energy, the moon is yin energy) and the other on top of it. Tell your heart: "I'm here, I'm listening". Ask your heart: "What do I need to let go of". Take a moment to feel or see it in your mind. Sometimes you get an answer lather in the day or week. Sometimes you need a little bit of practise before you are ready. That's oke. You don't need to sit for hours. Then just take a few moments to relax. Everything comes in the right time. Now you focus on the moon. Really visualize the moon in your mind. Tell her you surrender to her. Ask her to take you over and help you to let everything go that needs to go. To let go of everything that isn't yours and everything that isn't working for you. Feel how heavy it is, everything that you are carrying. Now imagine how it feels to let go of everything that needs to go. Feel how much lighter it is, how much more freedom and space you have. This way you send a signal to your mind that it is more safe to let go then to hold on.

  • Use movement as a form of prayer to the moon. Maybe even worship. Try to connect with that soft, slow, yin energy of the full moon. Use candles and music to get into that energy. In movement you can let go. Make space for feelings that come up. Don't push them away. But let them flow through you. If they are too big to carry, surrender them to the moon. She will change them into something miraculously beautiful. Nature never lets energy go to waste. Try to move in flow. This can take some practise. It is not about how it looks. It is about how it feels. That's why I don't use the word dance. Because most of the time we want dancing to look beautiful. But this is about how the movement makes you feel, or that you move as you are feeling.

  • Everything that enables you to let go for example painting, use it as a form of prayer to the full moon. Really say out loud that you are surrendering that activity to the moon. Because this is what work best for you to let go. Pour your heart and soul into that painting or maybe writing. It doesn’t matter as long as it helps you to let go, and make space for you to grow.
